My Living God is Nature.
In the 90s, I walked from Big Bend to the Yukon, as an evangelical pilgrimage to affirm faith in a living God. My quest was to to make pictures that reflected my spirituality. Carrying a 4x5 field camera, I shot black and white film.

Your project is very defined and I find a very strong personal connection and the interplay between you and the landscape. I am very intrigued by the second image which breaks the sequence but in a very evocative way that becomes an exclamation point and really makes me consider the series in a different way. What is going on here and what is the relationship, or effect of the hand to nature? There is an allegorical and symbolic interference here .
There are historical connotations and a strong sense of emotion; the pristine quality of the landscape is veiled, you do not give it all away and I personally find this to be way more intriguing and at the same time playful. Lyricism is also another element in the series which winks to some sort of a visual anthology of your life experiences and memories. There is intent in the work and the outcome is successful and in terms of sequence a little more diversity could be something to think about; that is of course if you have more images in your archive and I am sure you do.
